This handbook is designed for further education (FE) and post-16 teachers, whether specialising in academic or vocational education. Digital capability is crucial for learners, no matter what subject they study. Teachers will therefore need to develop their own digital capabilities as a basic competence in order to embrace current digital tools, apps and techniques to the pedagogy of teaching FE. This book provides the knowledge and skills required to source information learning technology (ILT) and content, and to convert traditional learning and teaching resources into engaging and interactive online material. It is designed around each aspect of the teaching and training cycle - identifying needs, planning and designing, delivering and facilitating, assessing and evaluating.
The book aims to: (1) explain what ILT and eLearning are in the context of the further education and skills sector; (2) enable teachers to successfully plan, prepare, facilitate and manage ILT for learning activities and tasks related to their role; (3) guide teachers through sourcing and applying the use of ILT and design of eLearning activities and digital resources; (4) establish and encourage ways to enhance learning, teaching and assessment through the use of ILT; (5) develop teachers' digital capabilities in exploring a range of digital tools; and (6) identify ways for teachers to keep up to date and share their own practices of ILT.

The present study attempted to examine the relationship between 21st-century leadership and strategic management of school principals concerning their strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation. This is with an end-view of preparing actions and activities to help strengthen their leadership skills in the 21st-century era. The study is descriptive-correlational in nature, employing a survey questionnaire responded to by 80 [technology and livelihood education] TLE teachers from public secondary schools in Districts II and V of Batangas Province. Quantitative analysis indicated that concerning the 21st-century leadership skills of TLE teachers, they generally agree that their school heads manifest strong advocacy and leadership (3.45) while they strongly agree that they display adult professional core (3.52), continuous improvement of teaching expertise (3.50), and results-oriented team (3.51). In terms of the strategic management of [technical and vocational education and training] TVET programs during this time of the pandemic, they agree that their school heads employ various strategies for strategy formulation (3.36), strategy implementation (3.40), and strategy evaluation (3.41). Pearson's R correlation revealed a moderate to very high correlation between strong advocacy and leadership, adult professional core, continuous improvement of teaching expertise, and results-oriented teams with their strategic management of the school heads. It was therefore suggested that school heads explore and initiate actions that will help foster their 21st-century leadership skills as it was found that it is influential in the strategic management of the TVET programs, particularly during this time of global health emergency.

Skills development systems cater to all people striving to learn relevant skills to earn a living and find their place in society - in principle. In reality, many individuals and groups find themselves excluded from learning opportunities, for a wide range of reasons. People in precarious, informal employment face numerous access barriers, and availability and accessibility of training centres might pose a problem for people living in remote areas or people with disabilities. After graduation, transition to employment can also be more challenging if labour market actors perpetuate discrimination. Ensuring that disadvantaged groups enjoy inclusive skills development environments will help them be more successful in transitioning to decent work. The guide includes a self-assessment tool, which aims to improve understanding of potential barriers to access and participation, and provides a basis for reflection on how to redress inequalities to promote a diverse and inclusive skills development system. Policy-makers and practitioners can use the assessment tool in digital interactive format and obtain an analysis of how inclusive their skills system or program is.
Specific themes and issues are addressed in a series of brief case studies: TVET reform project in Bangladesh; Gender mainstreaming in training institutions in Central America [Costa Rica]; Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for Syrian refugees in Jordan; Training for Rural Economic Empowerment (TREE) [Philippines]; Creating space for addressing homophobia in TVET colleges in South Africa; Upgrading the informal apprenticeship system in Benin; TVET e-tools and e-learning: Indigenous people in Australia; Social inclusion, employability training and HIV/AIDS in East and Southern Africa; Learning by doing: training self-employed workers outside of formal TVET in Mexico.

This purpose of this study is to investigate the training needs of the toolmaking industry in South Australia and to recommend accordingly. This includes an analysis of the type of training preferred for toolmakers and an estimate of the number of persons requiring basic training in the next three years [1979-1981]. The findings show that there is a strong preference for training in toolmaking to be given end-on to a basic grounding in fitting and machining.

The TAFE National Task Force - Small Business, which was formed in 1984, undertook to identify the existing education and training programs, and other support mechanisms, which have been established by TAFE institutions to aid Small Business. In addition the investigation has involved examining the wealth of existing research into Small Business education and training in order to determine implementation strategies, mechanisms and models by which some of the proposals, emerging from the research, could be embodied in the provisions made by TAFE. The recommendations in the report focus on six main areas: 1. Aids, materials and course documents; 2. Awards and short courses; 3. Funding; 4. Teachers and presenters; 5. Government initiatives; and 6. Publicity and promotion. Funding for the research was provided by the Commonwealth Projects Steering Group Committee and the National Training Council through the Small Business Management Development Committee. Show less
